Arbeidsoppgaver

Ønskede kvalifikasjoner

  • Førerkort klasse B

R&D Engineer

Tasks and Responsibilities

The TQC R&D team is a small group of R&D engineers working in close collaboration with the TQC Quality-, Production- and Sales & Commercial teams as well as with key customers and external research partners in order to position TQC as a major supplier of high purity quartz.

This time, we need to expand our team located near our strategic research partners at the universities and research organisations in Norway. As a member of our team, you will plan, carry out, report and follow up on strategic R&D project activities within TQC. 

You will mainly work on advanced testing and characterisation in order to understand the fundamental properties and mechanisms related to quartz sand and quartz glass, which can help us, understand how we can improve current products and develop new products. . Central areas of focus will be surface chemistry and reactivity, crystal lattice defects and inclusions, how these properties can be altered by different treatments and how they affect the final glass properties when fused by our customers.  You will also contribute in quality improvement, process development and new product development through laboratory and pilot scale testing, modelling and process work, as well as planning and establishment of required R&D infrastructure. 

Education/Experience

We require proven relevant technical and theoretical skills supported by an appropriate technical first degree (university or equivalent), coupled with either a relevant second degree (i.e.Ph.D) or proven industrial experience. A degree in mineralogy, materials science, chemistry, physics, mineral- or chemical processing or equivalent and knowledge of advanced understanding of material properties are desired. Familiarity with spectroscopic techniques, surface characterisation tools and advanced microscopic techniques will be beneficial.

Skills and Attributes

The ideal candidate will have personal motivation and ability to plan, priorities and carry out work with limited resources, and should have the ability to work equally effectively as an individual or as a contributing member of a team and be able to match understanding of key mechanisms to innovation and new product opportunities to the business needs. English written and spoken is required, and Norwegian (Scandinavian) written and spoken is desired. Travelling to TQC production sites and research facilities must be expected.
