Drag in Northern Norway is a beautiful location, but could be considered an unusual location for a high purity quartz purification and processing plant. Our plant has a special history in Northern Norway, however. The plant was built and opened in 1987. Later, Norwegian Crystallites, who have more than 60 years of experience in the minerals processing industry, took over the plant, leading to our JV position today.
Drawing on this expertise and investing in state-of-the-art technology has allowed us to create the world’s most high tech quartz processing plant in this location. More than $35 million has been invested in our purification plant in recent years, enabling us to increase capacity and improve product consistency. Our investments don't stop here: Going forward, we plan to open a chlorination facility at the location, expanding our capacity and capabilities for producing the highest purity quartz products.
We are dedicated to the community in all our locations, but believe it is particularly important to take care of our community in this beautiful location. Our training and apprenticeship programs create employment opportunities for local young people.
We also work closely with the local community, ensuring that the environment in which we operate is kept clean and facilities are available to the community.
