From quartz to life

It's gone from manual labor to very high-tech in a few years, and we are able to be part of an industry in transformation.

From heritage to high-tech

The Quartz Corp has gone from mining feldspar at Drag in northern Norway in 1914, and opening its U.S operations in 1957, to becoming a global industry leader within high purity quartz today. As part of this journey, we have gone from processing rocks to bringing technological progress; from mining to developing communities and neighborhoods; from providing employees with a profession to a passion. Yet not everyone is aware of the rapid development of our industry. Even many of our colleagues had little knowledge of what quartz is really about before they joined The Quartz Corp. We talked to our employees to get an even clearer vision of how quartz in different ways add life to our everyday lives: to technology, communities and people.

We spoke with five employees that all have their unique reasons to why they decided to be part of developing high purity quartz in Spruce Pine.

They have at least two things in common: A great fascination for the «magic» quartz can create, and a genuine care for their colleagues.

Get to know some of our employees – and hear their unique stories.
